The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) is conducting research on behalf of the Department for Communities (DfC) on the regulation of rent in the private rented sector (PRS) in Northern Ireland.
It involves reviewing and analysing existing evidence on rent regulation/control, as well as researching rent levels and affordability, and the implications of rent freeze/cuts for landlords.
The scenarios being considered are:
1. A rent freeze for up to 4 years.
2. A rent reduction of 2 per cent for up to 4 years.
3. A rent reduction of 5 per cent for up to 4 years.
4. A rent reduction of 10 per cent for up to 4 years.
To ensure this review is reflective of the experiences of landlords, we want all landlords to ensure their views are included. The survey is open until 31 July 2022.
